The LM-500 hand-carved, F-model mandolin is a tribute to classic design techniques. From the hand-carved, hand-graduated solid spruce top and solid maple back and sides to the abalone/mother-or-pearl headstock inlay, these mandolins were built to represent Golden Age craftsmanship updated for the modern era.
The Loar Hand Carved Workshop
The LM-500 is hand-carved and hand-assembled in The Loar Hand Carved Design Workshop with a number of appointments for modern players.
Scooped Fretboard
The LM-500’s maple neck has a comfortable rounded “V” profile finished with a rosewood fretboard. The fretboard extension has also been scooped, allowing players to position the pick closer to the neck joint, so they can find the mandolin’s “sweet spot” without fear of the pick hitting against the higher frets. The compensated adjustable ebony bridge and high quality vintage-style Grover tuning machines insure that these mandolins have great intonation and stay in tune no matter how hard they are played.

it takes a year or so …
You will not be disappointed! Great instrument! I did not order this from amazon but i bought this mandolin from a local store recently. I thought i would comment no the quality. I played this one, the 600, and the 700 back to back for about an hour before deciding on this one. The tone for those were all the same but the 500 just had less decoration. Fantastic mandolin for the money, it is a joy to play. I had…
