Good surprise I bought this thinking of it as a base for modding. I was surprised by how well made this guitar is. I also have an american stand strat to compare too. You can clearly see that the neck maple on the fender is a better quality, but the one on the squier had a good hefty feel to it, same satin finish. I think I got lucky since the frets were perfectly leveled and fret ends were smooth. I was thinking about changing the neck but I’m definitely keeping it, the only thing I’ll swap is the nut,…
It plays fantastic and stays in tune while playing even after some tremolo dive-bombs. I’m going to say right off the bat I know very little about guitars and this is my first electric I bought to use to learn. However the quality of this guitar seems to be pretty good. It should be known that the Affinity model has a slightly smaller locking nut than a standard stratocaster if that that matters to you.
