Perfect Beginner Polyphonic Synth Purchased for my college-age daughter who is all about vintage clothes and music, the Roland GAIA SH-01 synth was not my first choice. Instead, I’d purchased the which is newer and much more compact. It also provided more of a techno-vibe than the GAIA and a microphone for voice additions. I was sold on the newer one, but alas, I returned it because in talking with my daughter she was in love with the GAIA…
Great sound and usability This is a wonderful polyphonic synthesizer. Perfect for a beginner to start learning about subtractive synthesis. The layout is easy to understand. Lots of on board controls which is great for playing live (don’t need a computer to play it for me, but it can if I want it to). I got it because I knew only playing one note (like on some monophonic synths) would be too boring for me. Great for making pad sounds, but it still makes nice leads and basses. The effects section is a huge plus as well…
