Surprising Sound for the Price–Very Pleased I saw someone playing a resonator guitar and thought it had a fun and different look. Getting the cheapest one here at Amazon (and, apparently, it’s is made in China), my expectations were low.I was so surprised with the tone quality. It really sounds good–and I hadn’t realized it is actually an acoustic-ELECTRIC, which give it a truly amazing value. My regular AE guitar has a nice, mellow tone and I liked how it sounded even better when I changed to D’Addario strings. I might try…
Having read other reviews prior to purchase, I anticipated some setup work would be needed. I disassembled the guitar, using jeweler’s screwdrivers. The main issue was removing the 8 screws that some genius at the factory put through the resonator rim. I also removed the urethane drips from the rim of the sound well with a Dremel tool, to provide a level surface for the resonator lip. After removing and straightening the spider, I tinkered a bit with the tension screw for the cone/spider…
