The top of the Studio line consists of the brand new RD-40 Series Resonator. Everything from the inside out has been upgraded to meet the demands of professionals. While the body shape is reminiscent of those made in California in the 1930’s, the guts have been redesigned to include the exclusive “Power Reflex” sound chamber for increased volume and unsurpassed tone. The RD-40V has a Vintage Sunburst finish.

Build quality unacceptably poor I have had to return two Regal RD-40 guitars.I own several older Regals (an RD-52 and an RD-45) and have been very happy with them.But the build quality on these newer Regals has deteriorated significantly.Resonators require a lot of attention to setup. Regal traditional Reso I bought the Regal Duolian imitation last year and loved it. Sound was the way a steel bodied reso should be, construction wasn’t up to National standards but really pretty good. When this model was discontinued and prices dropped to sub-$300 I thought I’d take a chance. Bad decision. This guitar is miles beneath the Duolian in construction and sound.
