Crap redesign, thanks Planet Waves (not!) I own this identical Planet Waves Pro string winder that I bought three years ago. I have so many guitars now, I wanted a new one, so I purchased the same thing in January 2017. What a disappointment! The thing is not at all like the old one. I could tell the minute I took it out of the package. The plastic is cheaper, lighter material, and the clipper end/hinge is made of thin tin now. The hinge is not as smooth. Not very well made… The Plug Puller feature is the only thing that really worked for me. The Speed Tuner Knob feature literally fell apart after I tuned all 6 keys on my classical guitar. There is a metal screw holding the key holder portion into the handle as depicted. The screw gets loose as you’re turning it and that causes the key holder portion to wobble. The wobble causes the inside ABS plastic sleeve to ‘eat itself’. Ended up taking the screw out, putting in 2-3 drops of Loctite Blue, and then…
The Planet Waves Pro Winder is a great tool for guitarists to throw in their guitar cases … I originally purchased an inferior product to this one. The Planet Waves Pro Winder is a great tool for guitarists to throw in their guitar cases for road shows or for lessons. It includes a peg remover, wire cutters and a decent string winder. It can be a little awkward because of having a more bulky end, but it does the job well. My biggest complaint is that the peg remover can be a little difficult to pull out but with some elbow grease it works.After purchasing you will see why…
