I wish this had come out a long time ago! Got this a few months ago, but only recently took the time to really use it. I’ve been playing for decades and always thought my drums sounded OK, but now I realize just how much better they could have sounded all along.I used their drum tuning calculator app on my phone to try a couple of different intervals between drums and to try a variety of ratios of batter to resonant head tunings. I settled on an interval between toms and a medium resonance (reso head tighter than batter)…
Just get it. It does what its supposed to do. Works as expected. I tried out my sons Tune Bot and liked it so much I had to have one. I got the Tune-Bot Gig since he already the Original Tune-Bot. These things work if you need want to get your drums in tune. While you can tune by ear, this thing just makes it so much faster and not everyone can tune by ear. The only drawback to this is you really need to mute the opposite side head to get the frequency of the lugs. You can’t store settings but thats not what the gig is meant to do. I tried…
My ears were pretty close, but this gives me tuning perfection!!! I’ve been tuning my drums “by ear” since 1974. I’d gotten pretty good at it. I may not have tuned to specific notes, but my four toms all matched as a playing unit. Then I bought this baby…..after reading the instructions, I tuned all four toms, snare and kick drum in about an hour (batter and resonant heads). MAN do they sound good NOW!I read some reviews where some guys that said this product was too difficult to use, to master. I didn’t find that to be the case at all…
