A lot of times when you buy .5 foot patch cables, they measure 6 inches (more or less) from the end of one connector to end of the other, with less than 4″ of inflexible cable running between the two. Most of the time that’s not an issue, but occasionally when linking effects pedals together on a board you need a little extra length.
