Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a power supply?
The M-Track 2X2M is USB hub-powered meaning that it is powered simply by connecting it to your computer with the included USB cable. No additional power connections are necessary.
Do I need a driver to use the M-Track 2X2M?
For a Windows operating system, the M-Track 2X2M requires the installation of drivers to ensure the best possible performance. For Mac operating systems, the M-Track 2X2 is class-compliant and does not require a driver installation.
What sample rates does the M-Track 2X2M support?
The M-Track 2X2M supports up to 24-bit and 192kHz studio quality sample rates to capture every nuance and subtlety of your performance.
The instrument input is not working. Why not?
First, ensure that the USB / DIRECT knob is not all the way to one side or the other. In most cases, you will want a blend of direct sound and audio from your computer.
Next, in your preferred Digital Audio Workstation, set the track that you are attempting to play/record into to channel 2. Most DAWs default to channel 1 and the instrument channel on the M-Track 2X2M is set to send on channel 2.
If you continue to have difficulty, reach out to M-Audio support for additional assistance.
What is the difference between the M-Track 2X2 and the M-Track 2X2M?
The main difference between the M-Track 2X2 and the M-Track 2X2M is that the M-Track 2X2M features a 5-pin DIN MIDI input and output along with the high-quality audio inputs and outputs.
I connected to input 1 on the front and input 1 on the rear but I only hear the front input. Is this normal?
For both inputs 1 and 2, the priority is the front input. If connecting to both the front and rear inputs on the same channel, only the front input will pass through.

Great when it works, but… Been using it for a few months now, and have had endless problems with it. If the cable gets janked around a tiny bit, I have to unplug it and plug it back in. If I plug in certain peripherals into my computer at the same time as this interface, it stops working entirely. Sometimes it just stops working for no discernible reason and I have to restart my computer to get it working again. Wonderful product when it works, except a very small but noticeable delay on Instrument Line 2. When it’s…
Great interface! Firstly, I love this product, it looks professional and made of quality parts. I have a mic plugged into it, as well as 2 monitors using Dual TRS cable. For those of you having driver issues, here is your solution. Press F8 when your computer first boots up as if you were trying to enter into safe mode, but instead select the âDisable driver signature enforcementâ option. Now install your M-Track and it will work just fine. My only regret is not buying the 2x2M, other then that i’m very happy…
Great clean signal, exactly what I needed for my Macbook Pro and Shure SM58 mic
