Korg MICROKEY25 microKEY 25 USB MIDI Keyboard
The microKEY25 features excellent portability, allowing you to enjoy playing and producing with a great-feeling keyboard even when you’re away from home. It features an expressive Joystick, as traditionally found on larger controllers, and provides simultaneous control of multiple parameters at the same time, along with control of the built-in tempo-synced arpeggiator function. That’s not all; the microKEY25 can be powered directly from your iPad via the Camera Connection Kit, and it can be immediately used to control MIDI-capable apps such as Korg’s iMS-20. The microKEY25 also includes a download code for FREE Korg M1Le software, giving you all of the preset sounds and all of the PCM waveforms of the original M1, and a browser/search function that makes it easy to find that perfect sound. Also included are licenses for Applied Acoustics Systems’ Strum Acoustic Session, Lounge Lizard Session, and Ultra Analog Session as well as a license for Toontrack’s software drum sound module EzDrummer Lite, and a discount coupon for Ableton’s Live, Live Suite, and Live LE DAW software, widely popular for its sophisticated functionality.

Perfect for noodling around on the kitchen table On my big computer, I use an Akai MPK 261. It’s a large controller for playing large symphonic sweeps, pads, and melodies. (I don’t have the desk space for 88 keys even there, though.)On my little laptop, trying to use that MPK261 isn’t going to work. Meanwhile, the 25-key two-octave controller don’t get me enough space to play the full chords or drum sets I want. It seems like a 37-key mini controller would be just right for noodling with the laptop on the kitchen table. I looked…
Excellent for the price, but not the most expressive keyboard out there For the price, this is a good controller. It plugged into my mac and was ready right out of the box, and it is powered via usb, so no messing about with batteries or a separate adaptor. The modulation and pitch wheels are smooth and responsive, and the octave buttons work great. The keys are a touch small, which you would expect, and are decently responsive, but if you are looking for sensitive keys, you won’t find them here – the variation in velocity isn’t the best with this controller, but…
Perfect for a minimal studio This is my second one and I LOVE it. The first one I had lasted me two years before the USB connector started to become faulty. I’m totally fine with that considering the cheap investment and use I got out of it. I do most of my producing with a mouse and keyboard but eventually I need a keyboard just for figuring out chords and rhythm and this DOES THE TRICK! The keys have great weight, aren’t super firm like the Alesis, and the micro size makes it easier for a person with smaller hands (like…
