A nice go anywhere uke Kala makes quality instruments and their Waterman is a low cost, go anywhere uke. It’s a water resistant, beach and camping ukulele that will allow you to leave your more delicate mahogany instruments at home. It is made of ABS composite and seems durable and sturdy right out of the box. I would think it is a good option for a child’s first uke, as well. My Waterman is starting to bend or bow a little I purchased an orange Waterman and received it a week ago. Every time I pick it up I tighten one or more strings to get them in tune and play a song or two. Each day it requires less tuning. I expected a tuning and string stretching period. What I was surprised to notice was the strings were getting higher off the frets as the days went by. Sure enough the front of the box is now a little concave and the back is a little convex.
