Joyo JF-12 Voodoo Octava Guitar Pedal
The JF-12 Ultimate Octava pedal from JOYO audio gives the guitar player some really cool options to work with. The first of these is the standard Fuzz distortion, which adds tons of layers of harmonics, which remaining smooth enough to satisfy jazz and country players. The second is the out-of-this-world octave effect, which can be engaged independently of the distortion effect. This sound is really different, and it’s perfect for cool sound effects or alien-sounding tones being blended in with the raw signal.
The other features of this pedal aid and abet when it comes to reserving a permanent place in the pedal chain. The mid cut allows you to scoop out some of the body, which works nicely when thrashing out some crunchy power chords, as does the tone knob, which will be the reins on your dark, nay, bright horse – the highest notes with the octave pedal ON – that sounds like tin cans falling from the sky and breaking into glass figurines on marble flooring. Best part is there’s no clean up. The JF-12 allows rock, blues, jazz, funk, fusion and even country guitar players to access creative sounds from an affordable, spicy pedal!

And they are: (followed by Good Things about it)1. Limited use due to fuzz being too over the top. Some may see this as a good thing. Also the octave up is a bit less pronounced than I’d hope at times, but it is there and quite good in certain parts of the neck.2. Big fat piece of rubber glued in the battery compartment. A thick piece of rubber made it almost impossible to put…
Not the absolute best tone, but versatile with a lot of bang for the buck Gotta admit: For 33 bucks one should never expect much. So for it to have this many features for a fuzz pedal, one should be grateful. Why? Because it has got to have at least one setting for you that is workable. I did the 10uF “reverse polarity” cap mod and the the Octave Up effect is far more pronounced. I probably wouldn’t keep it if it weren’t for that, but not because it’s a crap pedal. It actually sounds quite good. The tone is quite bright and I usually have to set it to…
