Very good, and a bargain I’ve never played a mandolin before, and selected this one as a starter. Out of the box, it needs to be set up. It’s really pretty easy. A good set of new strings is a must. (I chose D’Addario EJ73 light gauges.) The neck is perfect, as Ibanez products generally are. The pickguard needed a tiny bit of bending of the metal support bracket and a little felt pad under the mounting screw up by the neck. The only thing that kept me from giving it a five-star rating was that the feet of bridge…
Pretty decent instrument Let me preface this by saying that I’m an intro mandolin player. It came packaged well without damage and the strings are decent enough to start out on, but I’ll echo a few other reviews I’ve read about this instrument by saying I think it would be a good idea to get new strings for it. This is a well made instrument. It’s beautiful and all the gear on it is straight and aligned well. It sounds great when its tuned right. It doesn’t have a “tin” ring to it like slightly cheaper…
