Solid harmonica, great for classical pieces, but better than less expensive Super 64? I regularly play one of two harmonicas: a 14 hole Suzuki SX56, and the Hohner Super 64. I find the Suzuki to be a bit easier to bend, but normally I am looking for even tone — I often play songs like Gabriel’s Oboe, Air on the G String, Canon in D, and for those pieces, the Super 64 is my preferred choice. I might instead use the Suzuki for jazz pieces, or when I improv. But I like the Super 64 for those songs as well. I can more easily navigate the extreme high end register on the Hohners…
Do not buy this instrument Do not buy this instrumentOn Chromatics I only play Jazz standards through mike and amp and there is never any forcing or bending. I have an old reliable 270 and also a 270 DeLuxe. No problems. This instrument has double reed plates in the lower 2 octaves and that gives it a bigger sound. I was told by a Hohner technician at one of their Road Shows that double reed plates put additional stress on those reeds.Six weeks after purchase 2nd A# stopped playing. I sent it back…
