The Hofner Ignition Violin bass is closely modeled after the Hofner Electric Violin Bass played by Paul McCartney of the Beatles. This is by far the best bass I’ve ever owned I’ve owned a few basses in my life, I haven’t bought one in a long time. This exceeded my expectations. This is by far the best bass I’ve ever owned. I love the size, it’s very light and the sound is so bright. I wanted a Hofner like McCartneys without spending over $800 and this was perfect. The only thing o didn’t like was the plain black volume knobs, but it was an easy fix, just bought the tea cup knobs seperate on Amazon and now it looks more like an authentic Hofner! I love love love this…
light-weight and easy to play I’ve played bass for many years and have owned many short and long scaled instruments. I owned a German-made Hofner early in my base playing lifetime and always regretted selling it. The Hofner IgnitionSB is all that I remember the German-made one to be, light-weight and easy to play. The neck and intonation were pretty much spot on when I unboxed it. I tuned it up and ran through a few scales. Short answer is: I love this instrument. Fit and finish are excellent…no flaws that I have…
