Back in the 50’s when Lap Steels were in it’s hey day, the Oahu Tonemaster® was the lap of choice among professionals. The Gold Tone LS-8 is an 8-string vintage replica of this famous instrument. The pickup and hardware are identical to the originals. We have even sold these replacement parts to Oahu Tonemaster owners. It includes a bone nut, square-covered style tuners, ash tray cover, and tobacco brown two-tone finish. We have dedicated TKL hard shell case which is form fitted.

Learning Western Lap Steel Guitar I’ve been learning western lap steel with Cindy Cashdollar’s video on a 6 string but I needed an 8 string to really do it right. It seems an 8 string is the norm for country and western lap steel. I wanted a mid priced guitar not a cheapy so I bought this Gold Tone 8 string and I’m glad I spent the extra money.
