So far, so very good Mine just arrived this evening, and I’ve only had it out of the box long enough to verify that it was all in one piece and looked and sounded good.Boy, does it ever look and sound good. :)I got this one because my 18-year-old Takamine G-series has some serious fret wear, and a slightly warped neck, even with the truss rod maxed out, and will cost more to repair/refurbish than this one cost outright. Hence, the action is quite high, and it’s hard to play bar chords higher…
I’ve found it very easy to switch from my butter smooth LP to this … I’ve spent years playing only my Gibson Les Paul. Right out of the box the Hummingbird blew me away. It came tuned perfectly to E flat. Tuned it up to E and continue to be blown away. It’s warm and mellow where it should be, and bright and crisp as well where it should be. I’ve found it very easy to switch from my butter smooth LP to this acoustic, and it’s beautiful sound has inspired me to get writing again. Then…I plugged it into my Epi Blues Custom 30W tube amp on the clean channel, and…
Beautiful guitar but lacking in tone In my opinion, I don’t think this guitar is quite worthy of all of the rave reviews here, based on the thin sound. I bought this because my Zager needs to go in for new frets and I have to wait until May to get it worked on, and wanted to get something inexpensive to use in the meantime. This is a beautiful instrument, no doubt. The finish is stunning, it’s very nicely made and ready to play out of the box, so on that level I would give it 5 stars. But soundwise, for me I’d say 2 and half…
