I’ve had nothing but positive experiences with Digitech products, and this one is no exception. The Mosaic gives you a twelve-string simulation that is close enough to the real thing for recording or live performances, but without the hassle that sometimes accompanies a 12-string guitar in those situations. It sounds very similar to a 12-string, and you can adjust the level of the added octave relative to to dry notes. There is a slight delay between the dry note and added octave that emulates the natural delay of the pick as it strikes a pair of strings on a 12-string guitar. Rather than upping an octave on the B and high E strings, it matches the tone of dry note with a slight delay, further enhancing the effect of a 12-string guitar. This pedal is really great. It does not sound like a natural 12 string, especially because the 1st and 2nd strings are treated like the other four, reproduced an octave above the original note. Even so, it sounds very good, a little synth-y but not in a cheesy way, and a bit of delay, chorus, and reverb go a long way to creating a really lush 12 string effect.
