A must try! I’ve played the regular D’Addario 110’s for many, many years. I’ll ocassionally try a different type of strings if something new and exciting comes out such as their NYXL strings which sound great but have too much tension for my preference. I’ve tried other coated strings such as Elixirs both Polyweb & Nanoweb but the feel of the strings just doesn’t feel natural. I also think the coating on the Elixirs diminishes the sound a bit especially on the high notes and reduces sustain somewhat…
Best strings ever made D’addario is the best string manufacturer hands down, acoustic and electric, and the EXP’s are hands down their best set. Whether it be tonal quality, how long they last, or ease of play they exceed the countless other brands I’ve tried. The problem you tend to run into is, Ernie ball for example is very easy on the fingers for bends, but they lack the tone of GHS. I love the sound of GHS, but they feel like knives under the fingers after they’ve been played a bit. For some reason D’daddario…
Honest Opinion Pro;-Great tone, I use these on my es335 with Lindy Fralin Pure PAF Humbuckers and 62 Stratocaster Reissue. I run my guitars though a VOX AC30, this is by far the best Blues/Jazz set up I have found in my 10 years of playing.-Great life. I play my 335 and Strat everyday with these strings and i get about a 3 to 4 weeks of string life, compared to about 5 days with none coated strings.- Price for what you get, great value.- D’Addario… enough saidCons…
