This product should make boutique pedal builders very nervous. I have heard them all… every sort of distortion pedal from the cheapest, to the widely proliferated, to the outrageously overpriced high-end Boutique “all tube analog jesus christ in a box”.This pedal need bow it’s metaphorical head to no one.This review is written on an out of the box version of the pedal, I have not upgraded the tube, no at some point in the future I likely will purchase other tubes just to see how they sound.Long story short,…
Great deal for the money- be sure to order a tube! Since so many other reviewers said it would be necessary to change the stock tube, I went ahead and ordered a TungSol 12AX7 at the same time. It’s a good thing I did, because the pedal arrived with… no stock tube at all! This, of course, meant no sound, so I was getting nervous until I opened it up and realized what was up. With the TungSol in it, it actually produces a fairly nice Marshall-ish crunch tone, and the noise gate works really well. It responds quite dynamically to being boosted…
Nice sound but if you get a noisy one it is not the design, exchange it for a good one The first one I received from Amazon had a horrible background noise that I first thought was just the design of the unit. Someone on youtube posted with the same problem. Look it up. But it didn’t seem right that there were so many good reviews and people would live with that. So I intended to exchange it but when I did Amazon was out of stock. So I returned it and bought it elsewhere and the new one did not have the noise problem.
