Alesis SR16 | Classic 24-bit Stereo Electronic Drum Machine with Dynamic Articulation
As one of the most popular drum machines ever made, the SR-16™ has been used by everyone from songwriters to live performers to remix engineers as their drum machine of choice. The reason is simple: it features a great selection of 233 realistic, natural drum sounds, offered both in dry form and sampled with our incomparable digital reverbs. Our exclusive Dynamic Articulation™ feature enables a drum sound to change its tonal content as it’s played harder for truly realistic performances.
The SR-16 features 50 preset patterns that were actually played in by top studio drummers, not just programmed and quantized. You’ll find enough built-in rhythmic variations (with A, B and two Fill sections) for composing complete arrangements, and you can create and save your own customized patterns and songs. Plus, the SR-16 also provides complete MIDI implementation, a footswitch input, flexible programming and editing features and velocity-sensitive pad buttons. Plus, it’s so easy to use that you’ll be up-and-running and composing new music in minutes.
Whether you need a songwriting partner or an accompanist for live performance, turn to the all-time world standard in drum machines: the SR-16.

Versatile and great for beginners To say that this will cover any drum-machine-beginner’s needs entirely would be an understatement. I won’t go too much into what it can/can’t do because I’m sure it has been mentioned in most other reviews as well as the product specs. What I will do is tell you all about how far this drum machine brought me.As a musician that really doesn’t care for playing with others as well as just a electronic-instrument enthusiast I decided on grabbing a drum machine rather than dealing with…
Stellar old-school rhythm box I bought the SR-18 to replace my old Zoom RT-123 that finally started failing after over a decade of serving me well. I have a full computer recording setup with high quality drum plugins but I still love the vibe and hands-on immediacy of a good old-fashioned groove box, and the SR-18 does not disappoint. It sounds better than I expected, with a good selection of surprisingly decent acoustic kits, but it’s those deliciously dated kits and samples I actually like the most. My philosophy is,…
SR-16 is still the best for a live jam Hey, Amazon–why are you combining two very different devices here? This review is for the old one, the SR-16. I didn’t like the SR-18 at all.I’ve tried every drum machine ever made, and I always come back to this one. The sounds are clunky and dull compared to more modern machines, but for a quick jam, you can’t beat it. It’s quick and easy to dial in a beat and a tempo, and the two foot pedals make a live performance almost plausible. If that’s how you play, I recommend this…
